Curiouser and Curiouser

Well , I guess the race for president of the USA is truly on now that McCain has picked his running mate , Sarah Palin . Obama chose Joe Biden as his vise presidential running mate . It gets interesting now that both presidential candidates are stirring the pot with these two added ingredients . There was only one poll so far today after McCain made his announcement . The state of Idaho says McCain is a head , but in general , Obama is ahead .... so far . The burning question is what will Obama and McCain do in the days ahead to try to turn the tide of voters their way before Nov. 8 , 2008 ? As Alice said , "Curiouser and curiouser " ! These are very clever men with great advisers . Keep your eyes glued to all their actions and ears open for the real words spoken by them .

Warning For Women Around The World

You've heard about people who have been abducted and had their kidneys removed by black-market organ thieves.

My thighs were stolen from me during the night a few years ago.

I went to sleep and woke up with someone else's thighs.

It was just that quick.

The replacements had the texture of cooked oatmeal.

Whose thighs were these and what happened to mine?

I spent the entire summer looking for my thighs.

Finally, hurt and angry, I resigned myself to living out my life in jeans.

And then the thieves struck again.

My butt was next.

I knew it was the same gang, because they took pains to match my new rear-end to the thighs they had stuck me with earlier.

But my new butt was attached at least three inches lower than my original!

I realized I'd have to give up my jeans in favor of long skirts.

Two years ago, I realized my arms had been switched.

One morning I was fixing my hair and was horrified to see the flesh of my upper arm swing to and fro with the motion of the hairbrush.

This was really getting scary - my body was being replaced one section at a time.

What could they do to me next?

When my poor neck suddenly disappeared and was replaced with a turkey neck, I decided to tell my story.

Women of the world wake up and smell the coffee!

Those 'plastic' surgeons are using REALreplacement body parts - stolen from you and me!

The next time someone you know has something lifted, look again - was it lifted from you?

THIS IS NOT A HOAX.

This is happening to women everywhere every night.

WARN YOUR FRIENDS!

P.S. Last year I thought someone had stolen my Boobs.

I was lying in bed and they were gone!

But when I jumped out of bed, I was relieved to see that they had just been hiding in my armpits as I slept.

Now I keep them hidden in my waistband.

Count Down To Ramadan

This is what Moe looked like when he came back home last night after spending all day at the beach with his sister and his brothers and their family's , lol . He was tired out but so happy .

I stayed home to spend the day in the kitchen cooking food to freeze ahead for Ramadan . Ramadan is only a little more than a week away . I think it will start in the 31 of August this year , but will have to see what the moon says .And I still have a appointment with Sheila this week sometime too , OMG , rush , rush , rush .

I am hoping that by cooking as much as possible before hand , I won't be spending ALL my time in the kitchen this year . It remains to be seen and we all know that the road to hell is paved with good intentions huh ?LOL ! Seemed like a good idea at the time . Today I did some more cooking by preparing all the pickled veggies by setting them to start marinating . Tomorrow I hope to finish up with baking the pizzas . I also cooked up the soups too . All this goes into the freezer to be taken out as needed for dinners . Next I have to tackle the house cleaning ...ugh ! I hate that part more than the cooking .

Ramadan is 90% preparation and 10% doing what needs to be done . This isn't the correct way to celebrate Ramadan but it helps to get these things out of the way so you can devote your time to prayer , charitable acts , good deeds , good thoughts , and being good .
Behaving well , being the operative words here . That's why prayer is so good , it keeps you on track when you want to scream at the idiot in front of you at the bakery , the store , in the traffic , moving so slowly when you still have 10,000 things to do for dinner time at sunset . Well , this idiot has to go and do some more stuff for preparing for Ramadan . Bye !

What ? Saif Who ?

I read the below article in the Reuters news service on line .It talks about Saif Gaddafi's view to a "new and improved Libya " . I found it interesting. I am not too sure that everyone else did though when I also saw this news story fresh off the press today .I will print them both out for you to read so you don't have to go to the links but , just in case my blog disappears in the near future ( well you never know !) this might be the reason why . I mean Saif has decided to retire from politics now .

Countdown to reforms in Libya begins: Saif

Wed Aug 20, 2008 10:59pm EDT

TRIPOLI (Reuters) - Libya, now in the mainstream of international politics after decades of isolation, needs reforms to revamp its political system into one that stands out against the region's "forest of dictatorships", Muammar Gaddafi's most prominent son said on Wednesday.

Saif al-Islam said his North African country has to strive to build a better future based on independent institutions and a thriving civic society since it had reconciled with the West.

Ties between OPEC member Libya and the United States have improved dramatically since 2003, when Libya accepted responsibility for the Lockerbie airliner bombing and said it would stop pursuing nuclear, chemical and biological weapons.

Since then, the United States has dropped many sanctions, removed Libya from a terrorism blacklist and restored diplomatic ties.

Saif has long called not only for a free market economy but also for deeper democracy in Libya, saying the country of six million lacks a free press and its democracy is imperfect.

"The countdown to build the state of institutions begins," he told a youth rally at Sebha town, 800 km (500 miles) south of Tripoli.

Saif, whose speech was broadcast live on Libyan state television, said the country needed reforms of its Jamahiriyah system of town hall meetings inspired by his father's political philosophy.

Saif sees a revamped Jamahiriyah to be different from the current system.

Gaddafi's admirers say the system of communal gatherings, in which political parties are banned, guarantees ordinary people a direct say in ruling themselves and ensures political stability.

Critics say the Jamahiriyah system, the only government most Libyans have known, is a fig leaf for authoritarian rule and has kept the country poor.

"Reforms will start by a new administration structure and end with a popular contract which will keep the Jamahiriyah system in place but with a new form that is different from the bad initial one," said Saif.

Gaddafi seized power in a coup in 1969 and in 1977 he proclaimed Jamahiriyah popular rule to try to create the perfect society in line with the teachings of his Green Book, which combines aspects of socialism, Islam and pan-Arabism.

"FOREST OF DICTATORSHIPS"

"Now we want to agree on laws that rule us in the future. The era now is different. We want a new administrative system, law and a constitution for once and all that do not change each time," said Saif.

Saif named an independent media and judiciary as the pillars of the future reformed political system and a free civic society bent on defending human rights.

"We are living in a forest ruled by dictatorships and hereditary regimes that trample human rights. All are dictatorships with fictitious parliaments and constitutions," said Saif, giving his view of the Middle East and North Africa's Arab political landscape.

He said Libya's reformed political system must be different from those in the Arab world now. "It should be an example and a model in the Middle East," he added.

"We Arabs have become a mockery, with pervasive torture and sites of secret prisons," he added.

Saif said reforms in Libya were on track to succeed. "The train of reforms is on track. It has not reached its final stop but it is on a good track to arrive," he added, claiming a leading role for himself.

"I had played a role in diplomacy, in government, in development policy and other things because Libya has no institutions to do that," he said.

Then today this story ....

Gaddafi son retires from politics

The son of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has announced his retirement from political life.

Sayf al-Islam Gaddafi has been a leading proponent of reform through his charity, The Gaddafi Foundation.

He said he had been obliged to intervene politically, but this was no longer necessary, as Libya now had institutions and systems it had lacked.

He has previously denied reports he was being groomed to take power and said there was no rift with his father.

He has no official role in government but in the past four years he has come into the limelight internationally because of his interventions.

The situation has changed and if I continue there will be a problem
Sayf al-Islam Gaddafi

The BBC's Rana Jawad in the capital, Tripoli, says in an hour-long televised speech, Sayf al-Islam Gaddafi took some credit for the rehabilitation of Libya's reputation.

"I intervened extensively in everything: our foreign policy, in a lot of problems, in development, in housing. Because there were no institutions or an administrative system that were able to do so," he told a crowd in the desert town of Sebha.

"But now the situation has changed and if I continue there will be a problem."

He said the decision-making process should not be held in the hands of a few people and again urged the creation of more civil societies, an independent media and a judiciary enshrined in a new constitution.

These goals were the responsibility of all Libyans, he said, to a standing ovation in Sebha, where he was addressing a crowd of thousands of young supporters.

Sayf al-Islam is one of seven of Col Gaddafi's sons.

The Libyan leader's youngest son, Hannibal, has caused a diplomatic row with Switzerland after being charged with assaulting two of his servants last month.

Libya's state shipping company halted oil shipments to Switzerland in protest.

Post Office Adventures

Today I decided I better mosey on over to the Post Office to check on the " no package " again , just to keep them on their toes you know . Moe and I drove to downtown Tagura"s Post Office . I told Moe he had to go with me since the guys there seem to think I am flirting with them. They act like they hope one of these days it could possibly turn into their lucky day some how . So ,Moe went with me for moral support .

We went in and I flashed my PO Box number card at them and said I had three packages I wanted to pick up . I wanted to sound like I KNEW they already had my packages there in the post office waiting for us to pick them up . I figured the easier I made it for them I might get some answers when I asked why they didn't have my packages . I mean it is like the Three Stooges there ! So , we went through the whole thing where I say , " yes I have a box . Yes , I know I don't have to pay NOW the rental on it ! No , I came to see if you have my packages ". Then Moe does his thing too .." daughter in America , packages , three of them , yes really ! Yata yata yata "! Ok ... wait here Larry says to us and he goes to my PO Box to see if they are there, duh as of they would fit inside the box to begin with !

Curly and Mo are doing their thing while Larry has gone to the back . Larry comes back out with a blue card in his hand . He tells us the package has arrived in Tripoli . I say well why aren't they here in Tagura since I have the card thats says they are here . Well , you have to go to the Post Office on Shara Zoweeyah street where the international packages go . We have to go to Shara Zoweeyah to get it ! OMG ! Where the heck is this Post Office located on Shara Zoweeyah street? I never saw no Post Office by the hospital on that street ! Are you sure ? Oh yes he says to us .

Total panic attack ! HOW are we ever gone to find it ? So , I tell Mohamed to ask the guy for precise instructions on how to get there.... EXACTLY ! What was I thinking ? He says sure ! They talk . And talk , Shara Zoweeyah is mentioned a lot . Bab Ben Ghashire is too , then for good measure ... the guy turns to me and tells me to look for a building that has BIG DOMES on top of the building like a mosque . OK ! So ... off we go ! I get in the car . Panic has set in , I am nervous . I am busy thinking ... traffic , lost , traffic , no parking , traffic , how to carry the packages once we get them, traffic . I ask Moe , the trusty guide .. "Are you SURE you know where we are supposed to go" ? He looks at me blankly and says .... "NO" !!! I explode ! He explodes ! More yelling ensues . People looking at us . We are still in downtown Tagura after all . I say forget about it ! We will go tomorrow . A Scarlet O'Hara thing for Southern women ! It is 11:45 by now . Ok, he says relived !

We take off for town to buy the groceries I need to make stuffed veggies tomorrow . As we go down the road a way I say to him ... we are going in ! Man the battle stations ! So , we do . I make it to Shara Zoweeyah street , following his instructions with us both still yelling at each other of course , it wouldn't be normal with out that right ?

We find a huge Post Office near the Shara Zoweeyah hospital !!!! But no domes on it in sight ! Since we are not too sure if this is the correct place , we want to ask some one if we ARE at the correct location , but where do you go , with 15,000 gates to the place . Armed guards all over . Looks like Fort Knox ! So , I drive up to the first guard , flash the blue card. Moe asks him where do we go for this "ya khoowee", my brother ? He doesn't know . He ends us to another gate to ask that khoowee ! This one LOL and says .... go straight ... and straight ... and straight .... then turn right ...... then go straight ... then go down .OK ! Got it !

So we do all that but the down part . WHERE DOWN ? No down to be seen . OMG ! So close ! I block a mail truck , make the guy get out and come to us and Moe asks him .."Belayhee ya khoowee , where is the down "? He lol , they all have a sense of humor there huh ? Says back up your car and you will see the down . I do . I see the down . He says go down , duh I know that much already but , I do it anyway ! And then drive to that open door , park by it and walk in, he instructs us . We do all that .

No one in sight inside the building . No noise at all .A ghost town . I yell "Salem Allah cum" real loud ! This guy pokes his head out of a office as if he can't believe his eyes or his ears ... PEOPLE ! OMG ! SO, he comes over and asks what he can do for us . Moe tells him we want to pick up three packages from America ! We show him our little blue card . He says wait here and takes our card off with him into the building somewhere out of sight . I am thinking he went to go get the packages for us since he took the card with him . Just as I am looking for a chair to sit down on he comes back and speaks to us in English .. "follow me please" . We do, as fast as we can , which is actually very slow . Moe is clacking his cane and I am hobbling very penguin like .

He leads us on a guided tour through the place as we go to where ever it is we are going . We enter a very large room with three men sitting or standing around doing nothing much . Men that are stunned to see us . I was being to feel like I was in a Stephen King novel when they talked to the guide, still looking at us as if we were something they never had seen before, a alien possibly . They took the blue card . Um hum a package alright . I said no , three of them . Moe said from America . They look at the card some more . Yep ! That's what it says alright .

I found a empty chair to sit down on . Moe is dressed like a golfer in his Izod shirt and golf shorts . I am in my jeans and tank top with a hot pink short sleeved t shirt over it. They would look at us ever now and then as if we might disappear before their very eyes .Then they would look at the card . Finally one guy went into a side room that had stacks of packages in it on shelves .There are neat stacks of packages all over the place , and eventually the man comes out with one large package . I say there are two more, just in case he gets too proud of his self and thinks that's all the packages ! So, he goes back in the other room he just came out of to look for the other two packages .

A different guy comes up to ask Moe a few questions about what the packages contains . About that time I see that the box that has already come out has "U Haul" on the box . "U Haul" is a company that you can rent its' trucks if you need to , in America . Mainly this company is used by people moving their belongings from one place to another . I started to think about my daughter and the things she might have used the box for when she moved . She had touched that box , had her things in that box . The next thing I know , I just start to boo hoo all over the place ! OMG ! How embarrassing ! All the men in the room froze ! And stared at me , which made me cry harder . And I ONLY had one Kleenex !

Moe is stricken also for much the same reasons , missing his daighter, but manages not to cry , instead he is trying to very quietly shush me , which causes more crying . By this time ALL the men are all looking for the other two packages ! Just as I was starting to get a handle on the crying jag , they found the other two boxes. They brought them out , the sight of them only made me cry much harder !!!!

There is definetly panic in the air by now from all the men ! The one guy asks Moe why was I crying ? He was really concerned . I am sure he was thinking, we will have to send some one to the hospital across the street to get a doctor and a tranquilizer gun if she doesn't stop crying soon .Moe told him the packages were from MY daughter that lives in America ! Oh well !!! They got that !

They opened the big one , did a poky , poky sorta sight thing . I was sobbing by now , so he asked did we have any thing bad in the boxes ? Moe assured him it was just clothes for me . The guy yelled at the other the guy to go get a cart to take this stuff to our car ... pronto ! They loaded those boxes so fast it would have made your head spin if you had seen it . They take off running to our car that was parked under /down. We follow as fast as we could back the same way we had entered the office building , with cane clanking and penguin hobbling . I start to slow down crying a little since it is hard to cry and hobble all at the same time . Moe is trying to be so sweet to me ,telling me it is ok .

When all of the sudden this guy comes flying out of a office from nowhere, yelling at us . Where did we think we were going ? Moe his tried best to explain to him , but got tongue tied from all the excitement and couldn't . So , I stopped my crying to try to explain to him that we were going to our car , and that we were leaving the building under supervision . No your not in that direction he yells at me . I say yes this direction is the way we entered the building and our car is just out side waiting for us . He says no it was impossible we came into the building that way and gets nasty . I am beginning to get angry now . I tell him our car is down and they have taken our packages to the car for us . IMPOSSIBLE he bellows to me .

Ok , that did it, I suck in air to my lungs to yell back at him. I tell him we are going to our car and that's that ! I take off walking / hobbling with Moe close behind me . I have had enough of this nonsense. He starts yelling that a AMERICAN is behind the " back lines" where no one is apparently supposed to be but authorized personell ! Thank God that the guy with our stuff came to find us at that exact moment ! He talks to that man , who is still mad because we are " back behind the lines " . I tell him IF a police man and a employee told us to go there then why was he so upset ? Moe grabs my arm and we take off to the car with ALL the people in the building following us out to our car as if we were suddenly public enemy #1 now ! We get to the car and the mad guy makes me move it , so I do , and the nice guy loads the packages into the car for us . We thank him profusely , and we leave like a bat outta hell ! SMOKING !

We get home and I unpack . I unpack , and I unpack , and I unpack , crying the whole time . Everything is so lovely and beautiful !!All fits just right . I love all these beautiful new clothes my daughter has chosen for me . Moe does too . I had to clean out my closet so I could find room enough to hang them all up . Which lead to me cleaning out Moe's side of the closet too since I needed MORE space . I have a real complete wardrobe now after twenty five years of not having one . EVERYTHING IN MY CLOSET IS FASHIONABLE , STYLISH , SOMETHING I LOVE AND FITS ME ! Now to a man , this may not seem like a very Important thing , but a woman will understand exactly what I feel . I think I died and went to Heaven !

I would like to say that it took less than a month to receive my packages from America . The original seals were still intact and all the items sent to me were present and accounted for . I am happy to say that except for that one man , every one treated us nicely and very politely . Thank Post Office !

" Ah , I Forgot "

I am always forgetting stuff . Most times things will come back to me , usually way after I don't need the information , but I mostly remember things is my point . Now read the article below and tell me what you think , ok ? And let me say right now as a statement , I don't dislike Mr. Mc Cain or his mother . After all he is 72 and his mom is 96 and they are liable to forget a few things along the way now and then . All those years , things sorta add up that you have to keep track of and it is only natural that one would forget a thing or two now and then , right ?

McCain and his mother don't recall old lawsuits

By MATTHEW BARAKAT, Associated Press WriterSat Aug 16, 5:50 AM ET

Republican presidential candidate John McCain's divorce was amicable enough that he and his ex-wife jointly brought a lawsuit 10 years later to recover damages for lost mementos, but it wasn't amicable enough to prevent McCain's mother from suing his ex-wife to get back some personal property.

Both lawsuits were settled out of court decades ago and before they went to trial, but records of them are kept in the archives of the city courthouse in Alexandria.

Curiously, although the records clearly list the plaintiffs, McCain's campaign says that the Arizona senator didn't know about or authorize the 1990 lawsuit with his ex-wife, Carol, and that his mother's 1980 lawsuit was filed "unintentionally." And McCain's 96-year-old mother, Roberta, says she never sued Carol.

But others involved dispute those assertions.

In the 1980 lawsuit, filed shortly after John and Carol McCain divorced, Roberta sued Carol to reclaim some personal property, including paintings, a needlepoint screen and a pair of earrings. A settlement was reached in 1981.

But in a brief telephone interview, Roberta denied filing the lawsuit.

"I have never heard of what you're talking about. ... I will put my hand on a Bible," she said, to attest that she had never sued Carol.

Roberta's denial prompted laughter from the ex-daughter-in-law.

"Yes, she sued me," Carol said in a brief phone interview.

Roberta's lawsuit sought personal property she claimed Carol was refusing to return. The disputed items included an "18th century Burmise Buddist Preist (Burmese Buddhist priest)" valued by Roberta at $2,000, and a "Butlers Tray for Liquor" she valued at $225.

McCain campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds said in an e-mail, "Of course, by all accounts the divorce was completely amicable. After John and Carol McCain's divorce, there was apparently some confusion about belongings that were Roberta McCain's but we understand the court papers were unintentionally filed, and the matter never went further in the legal system. It went nowhere, and was of no consequence."

In the 1990 lawsuit, John and Carol McCain jointly sought $1 million in punitive damages after a property management firm mistakenly threw out some McCain family treasures from a garage the McCains shared with an adjacent townhouse. The lost items included letters McCain wrote to his wife as a prisoner of war in Vietnam.

In his e-mail, Bounds said McCain "had no knowledge of the suit: He did not authorize the suit or participate in its filing."

But the lawyer who represented the McCains said she did indeed speak to McCain and get his permission to sue on his behalf.

"You can be sure that I talked to and got the permission of any client who is listed as a plaintiff," said attorney Barbara P. Beach.

It would be a serious violation to file an unauthorized lawsuit, and "I haven't been disbarred yet," Beach said with a laugh.

Beach said she's not surprised, though, that McCain doesn't remember the case. She recalled that Carol was much more deeply involved.

"I don't think it took more than 15 minutes of his time," Beach said. "The fact that they don't remember it doesn't bother me."

The 1990 lawsuit lists five pages of lost property, including autographed pictures of U.S. presidents, Super Bowl programs from every year the game was played and a Chinese Foo dog sculpture.

Some were surely items the family considered priceless: photos of McCain's grandfather alongside Gen. Douglas MacArthur when the Japanese surrendered in World War II, the letters McCain wrote as a POW and the press clippings documenting his release.

Much of the property appears to be memorabilia of Carol's days running the White House Visitors Office under President Reagan, including several dozen wooden Easter eggs from the annual white House Easter Egg Roll, signed by such celebrities as Burt Reynolds and Brooke Shields.

The lawsuit was settled for an undisclosed amount.

According to court papers, when the townhouse next door to the McCains' townhouse changed hands, a property management firm mistakenly threw everything out of the garage, unaware that half the garage belonged to the McCains.

By 1990, only Carol lived in Alexandria, but she and her ex-husband continued to jointly own the property.

The defendants argued the McCains were out of line in seeking punitive damages because there was no evidence anybody acted maliciously.

Darren McKinney, a spokesman for the American Tort Reform Association, said, "Plaintiffs' lawyers will routinely ask for significant damages to try and prompt a settlement."

Carol said she had no interest in discussing details of the two lawsuits.

"What possible difference could it make? It was all 25 years ago," she said. "I wish him well, but I don't talk to reporters."

In his autobiography, McCain has taken responsibility for the breakup of his marriage. Carol was friendly with prominent Republicans and civic leaders, including the Reagans and billionaire H. Ross Perot, who at times treated John McCain coolly after the divorce.

More News From Me

So much going on I'm not really sure where to begin but I guess the biggest and most talked about here in this part of the world is the deal between America and Libya settling a fair compensation for victims from the bombings of Pan Am Flight over Lockerbie , Scotland and the USA's bombing of Tripoli and Benghazi that ended diplomatic ties back in 1986 . Secretary Rice is actually saying she will make a diplomatic visit to Tripoli before the end of her term as Secretary of State .

More on the diplomatic front ...... Libya and Bolivia are establishing relations . It seems both countries have the development of energy resources on their minds for mutual benefits of each other . I don't know if I have mentioned this before but if I have , please forgive me , lol , but when I met Moe the very first time I asked him which country he was from . He told me Libya . I thought , poor thing he doesn't even know how to pronounce his own country's name and kept correcting him by telling him , no you mean Bolivia every time he said Libya . He finally smiled at me and just nodded his head . It wasn't until several days had gone by that I realized there was a real country named Libya ... all the way in North Africa , not Bolivia in South America ! OMG , that man has some patience huh !

I just watched the movie " Cold Mountain " with Nicole Kidman and Jude Law. I normally won't watch a movie that covers the American Civil War . Nor do I like to read any books pertaining to that subject . It was a terrible time in American history that to this day you can still see and hear the scars if you look or listen hard enough . But this movie was so good that I became lost in the love story it told instead of focusing on the war it was placed in . The acting was very moving . If you haven't seen it , I recommend it .

I broke down and bought myself some reading glasses , along with a new pair for everyday . It is so amazing when you get new glasses all the things you notice that you hadn't seen before , lol ! Like dirty windows . They never bothered me all that much before . Now , I think I will have to break down and wash the rest of the ones my nice daughter in law didn't do when she was visiting us !

And now that I have reading glasses I am begging for books to read from my friends again . After I read "The Pillars Of The Earth " I realized how much I have missed reading . Used to you could never get my head out of a book but when I started to need reading glasses , I just stopped reading rather than buying the glasses . Isn't that stupid to give up something so wonderful for a silly reason?

So now I have a large stack of books waiting for my attention . I don't know when I will find time to cook this Ramadan for all the reading I have waiting for me ! Right now I am reading " The Secret Life Of Bees " by Sue Monk Kid . I like it . It is bringing back forgotten memories of my childhood times , even though my childhood was nothing like the girl in the book . It was in the same time period as in the book. Yes I am all that old , lol !

Some sad news to report to my family and friends that read my blog to stay in touch , our daughter in law has miscarried her pregnancy of two months . She is alright and the doctor says she can try again in the future .

Chen Yanqing- Wonder Woman

This amazing little woman, Chen Yanqing, that weighs all of 57 kilos had me sobbing the other day as I watched her break her own world record in the Cling and Jerk . She was competing in the Womans 58 kilos weight lifting division . She won her second gold medal for China .

As I sat watching this woman struggle to lift more than double her own body weight , it hit me like a ton of bricks that her herculean struggle with more and more weights added to the bar , was so much like every womans struggle in her daily life . We struggle to juggle our lives for all that we love . We bear the sole burden of pregnancy and child birth . Many women now days not only work in the home , raise families ,and work out side the home , they do it while constantly doing a balancing act . The battle to balance our lives in the many different directions it takes us daily , to carry the heavy load alone , while trying to make it all seem effortless is so similar to the feat Chen Yanqing accomplished when she lifted 138 kilos high above her head for her golden new world record .

I sobbed with pride for her strength of character that kept her from ever giving up , even when she wanted to in the past . I cried because she is everything that represents women all over the world .... strength , strong character , loyalty ,pride , the ability to withstand adversity, and over come all problems . How I admire this woman . She sets the bar high for future generations of women to come , and shows that all adversity is conquerable ! Hip , hip , hip hurray for the new Wonder Woman !!!!

My News In English

Been pretty busy this week and last week . Moe thought he was going to go out of town for a vacation . That needed all sorts of planning , running to and fro for things he might need , or wanted for his trip . All that rush , rush doing this or that and the man is still here ! OMG !

I had planned on all sorts of fun for myself while he was gone . I was going to sleep as long as I liked . NO PLANNED MEALS !!!! No cooking !!!! Eat ice cream in bed while reading a good book .Visiting friends , going to weddings , having some clothes made for myself . Many of these things I can still and will do , but half the fun is NOT having to do all the everyday things I do normally for him . A mini vacation for me but with all the comforts of home thrown in , lol ! Maybe he will go after all , keep your fingers crossed for me , lol !

It has been the Annual Pre Ramadan clean out the freezer thing this past week end . I made a solemn vow this year as I hammered the ice off the sides of the freezer ..... next year , I WILL HAVE A FROST FREE FREEZER AND REFRIGERATOR ... or else ! Or else what I am not too sure but definitely a OR ELSE !

In the mean time , I read "The Pillars Of The Earth" book and loved it the second time around . Yes , I said second time , for after all that searching for the book here and finally getting my hands on it , I realized after the very first paragraph , that I had read it when it came out in the 1980's ! Of course that was so long ago , I had forgotten most of the story so it was new again for me . Loved the book !

I have also done most of the Pre Ramadan shopping now . I am so glade that's over with !!! The prices haven't gone up too much ... so far . But I didn't notice many new food items on the shelves as in years past . But the port of Tripoli has ships stacked waiting to come in and unload their goodies for Ramadan , so maybe I just went shopping too early this year .

So nice to see the ships waiting to come in the harbor . Made me think of how things were in the 1970's when ships had to wait days to again entry to the docks to unload their cargo . At night you could see the ships lights out at sea as far as you could look , like stars on the water . Maybe it will be like that again ?

Did any of you watch the opening ceremonies for the Olympics ? OH WOW !!!! That was something else ! So fabulous !!! I loved the way the countries came in ,out of alphabetical order , like a deck of cards that had been shuffled . I appreciated the thought and planning that went into the placement of countries not on good terms with one another . I thought it was so ironic that Syria was placed in the middle between the US and Russia , lol , like a Peace Keeper , lol ! What a sense of humor those Chinese have!! I had to get up to do something and missed Libya's entrance . Does anyone have a picture of that ? If you do will you place it on the comment portion of this post . Would live to see them !

So , that's what I have been up to lately . What abut you ????

The Archive Of Misheard Lyrics & Miscellaneous Stuff

Ever heard a song and loved it ? Found your self singing it out loud so all and sundry could hear you and not just in the shower ? Only to find out from some kind soul that you have NOT been singing the correct words to that song ? Like " Lucy In Disguise With Glasses " ! For years that's what I thought the Beatles were singing , lol !

Like so many other people who thought they knew all the words , this web sight will give you many hours of laughter looking up songs you thought you knew . It features personal stories from others that also thought they knew a song or two , lol . Then after you read their version , you can click on a link to the "real " lyrics to read .

Remember a few post back I mentioned a visit to Beauty Street with a friend ? She bought a bubble bath soap that promised transportation to exotic places when you use the bubble bath . I saw her today and asked her if she had tried out the bubble bath yet . She said yes , she had . Well ??? What happened ? Where did you go ? Did it hold up to the promise on the label to export you to exotic places ? She smiled a Mona Lisa smile and looked dreamily off into the distance without answering me . So , I guess I have to make another trip to Beauty Street to get some of that stuff and see where she went !

The Olympics have started . Moe is watching China and the Netherlands try to trounce each other in football ( soccer ) . I am not too sure which events we will be able to see here on the different channels we have on our sat. dish but hope at least to see some of the gymnastics this time around . Last Olympics we didn't get to much of that sport . I feel so sorry for any of the outdoor sports athletes because of the air quality in Beijing is so terrible . Imagine they claimed to have cleaned the air up for the Olympics !!! It's worse than L.A. on a bad day ! I guess it must be one of the last supposedly non political events left on the world . Or at least it strives to be non political .Wishing all the best to the competitors from all over the world in this 2008 Olympiad .

Blast From The Past

Here is a blast from the past ! Otis Redding singing "I've Been Loving You So Long " . It is the blues at it's very best by a master . If this doesn't hit the blues in you , then nothing will . If you don't have a love in your life now , get one so you can dance this with them . It's got to be one of the best slow dance songs ever ! Enjoy !
