3 Chickens And 2 Horses

Today while I was out running errands I had to stop my car in the road three times to let chickens cross to the other side .Later on , I had to stop traffic to allow two very nervous horses to go from one side of the street to the other .Imagine , this was in the city .Do you know why the chickens crossed the road ????
