Some Of This And That

The Eid was ok . The 1st day we stayed home . We decided to not go to the son's house for the Eid . I had cooked the Libyan soup and a meat dish that has all sorts of cuts of meat that is cooked in spices and eaten with bread for us . That was good .

The next day the whole family came by . Our son brought Haroun , our grandson . He has gone like a weed and can now sit in his little chair that he couldn't sit in before . He was a terror , into everything . I had put most things out of his reaching range already but of course there were a couple of things I missed , lol. Our daughter in the States called and I got to talk to Gail , our grand daughter . Rosebud wrote since her phone is outta order to wish us happy Eid too . She sent some really fabulous pictures of Sophia that we drooled over about a 1,000 times .Everyone was ooowwwing and awwwwing over them . She is so cute !

The nieces and nephews have all grown taller and more beautiful and handsome as well . The brothers and sisters have aged ( of course JUST THEM , not Moe or I ! ) and I was shocked to see all the grey in our sons hair . Where did that come from ?

Today we were gonna go visit the aunts since they are getting up there on age now , but Moe and I have been blessed by every person we have come in contact with over the last week that had the flu .They lovingly passed the flu on to us . We have stayed in bed most of today sleeping . I can remember when that would have been a fantastic thing , but not today . It was spent snuffling ,sneezing , moaning , and groaning . Much complaining on Moe's part and demanding I get this or that for him ... since HE IS DYING ! But I am dreaming of a nurse in a shinning nurse uniform to come and take care of me! Mad laughing going on here , can you hear me ? Ok , that's my 2 minutes of moaning and groaning . I gotta go , Moe is whining in the other room , something about food or maybe meds ?

Please ignore the 1st two entry's for this post . There was a malfunction with my finger and the button !!! LOL !

I think I mentioned in a past post that my daughter in law and grandson were staying with us while my son is working in the dessert . That made my last week very busy and exciting with all sorts of activities . LOL !

My daughter in law , bless her heart , was so nice and helpful . She did many things I hadn't been able to do around the Condo , while Moe and I enjoyed having all of the time with Haroun we wanted ! He wore us out but he was also exhausted , lol ! By the time he went back to his own home on Saturday , he understood English when I spoke to him . I think if he had stayed here a little longer he might have even started to speak it . Maybe next visit . His mother announced at the end of her stay that she and my son are expecting another child in the up coming year . Amazing , this time last year I had only one grandchild , now I have two with two more on the way . Talk about making up for lost time , lol !

Moe has entered the techno age finally ! My son gave him a mobile phone which I was surprised to learn Moe already knew how to operate ! Just goes to show you age is no boundary for learning something new ! Now , we just have to get him a number to go with the phone so he can use it . I guess I am the very last hold out against having a mobile phone . I can't stand the things . As a matter of fact ... I just hate phones in general . They are a intrusion on ones privacy I think .

Update on the seranti thing ...... remember me telling you all about trying to get the roll down shutter in the living room fixed a while back and we still needed a part for it ? The other day AFTER my daughter in law washed the windows in the living room , I realized that it still wasn't fixed yet . I had just become used to seeing it half way down and since the windows were so dirty ( I never do windows ! Just a matter of principal !) I had stopped paying attention to it . So , today we called the guy , or rather Moe did since the guy is still sensitive to speaking to women ,and he said he would come next week to finish the job . So , please would someone out there remind me to make sure I follow up on that ? I would like to get that finished before Ramadan starts .

Speaking of Ramadan ... it is ONLY in six more weeks !!!! I am going to have to get in high gear this year and start to stock up on stuff from now for Ramadan . Hopefully that way I will have a minimal of shopping to do during Ramadan . I hate to shop for food during Ramadan because it is soooo crazy crowded in all the shops and the people( me included ! Some times ) are pushy !It is supposed to be a charitable time of the year ... yata yata yata .... but can get pretty nasty out there in the mean streets !

So anyway as far as I know , the first day of Ramadan seems to be on September 1st , which the anniversary of Qaddafi's Fatah Revolution . This is celebrated here in Libya much as the 4th of July is celebrated in the States . This year marks the thirty ninth year of the Revolution . Now since the 1st day of Ramadan and the 1st of September will both be on the same day this year , it will be a interesting day this year .

Pink Floyd , Babies , And Nowhere To Go

Last week was one of those weeks when so much was panned and nothing got done . Don't you just hate it when that happens ?Like running in place , never got that , why run if you aren't going somewhere in the process .

A friend and I have planned a trip to the mountains for a year. I was charged , ready to go , made all kinds of arrangements for the trip . Juggled around Moe's schedule to make sure he was ok , only to find out at the 12th hour it was no go . I was disappointed to say the least but , you know , stuff happens so , next time .

I needed to go grocery shopping , which at the best of times isn't a while lot of fun here . For one thing you can't count on a consistent supply of consumer goods . That means one time you go shopping and you can find ... oh , maybe peanut butter , but not syrup .Then the next time there aren't any of those items but something else that you have waited for a long time . Currently on my list is Worcestershire sauce . It was a staple all last year and now I can't find it anywhere , sigh ! So , this too is turning out not to be such smooth sailing task to accomplish, as simple as it should be , it hasn't been . I still haven't made it to those shopping aisles , yet more delays .

My grandson was quite ill this last week, also . Hopefully he will be better soon . Nothing too serious but with little ones even small things can get out of hand if not closely monitored . So that sorta sums up my week ; stop and start , red light , green light, hurry up to go no where .

We did get some wonderful news this week . My youngest daughter went for her 5th month maternity check up to see her baby's sex by a ultra sound . She is having a lovely little girl !!! Can't tell you how thrilled we were to learn all is well with her and the baby .

On a bright note ..... Music Lover sent a comment to my post " A Special Present" ... Pink Floyd's song " Coming Back To Life " . You can listen to it here . I did . I hadn't heard this before and as usual Pink Floyd "speaks " to my heart . Love them !!!! I went to YouTube and listened to a few of my favorite Pink Floyd songs and watched their videos .Here is one of my all time favorites " Comfortably Numb". "Sorrow" is a haunting tune . Well , lets just face it , there will never be anything like Pink Floyd's music ever again . The music resonates through you as it connects to your soul . Pink Floyd has pulled me through some pretty bad times in the past . Floyd RULES !
