Villa On The Med In Tagura,Libya

Hello ! It was last February  when I was able to post on my blog . A lot has happened as you may have heard, the war , which still rages on here in Tripoli and other places in Libya .I just wanted to say that Moe and I are both well and doing fine. Our son and his family are also well and safe.Moe's family that are still here in Libya are doing well. We are all safe ,thanks to God.

We had all sorts of adventures as you can imagine, but for right now I just wanted to thank all of you that wrote, sending your love ,prayers ,and well wishes to us and our family here.Truly the Grace of God has been with us,our family, friends, and wonderful neighbors here in Tripoli. A special prayer goes out to the families that have not been as blessed as we.The families that have lost loved ones ,been displaced, or made homeless.
A special thanks to NATO and their support. And a IMPORTANT  message to the new Libyan National Transitional Council  ..... please ,please when a new constitution is drafted remember the foreign spouses of  Libyans such as my many friends and myself . Please afford us the rights to own our property , to inherit from our spouses ( our homes that many times we helped build or sacrificed much to help our husbands buy ,are many times NOT given to the surviving spouse due to foreign  citizenship. ), allow us to have the right to own our own businesses legally ,to travel with our multi-national children with out having spousal permission to leave the country, and the right to open our own banking account without spousal approval.

I have lived here off and on for last 40 years .I currently have lived in Libya for 21 years and have not left the country in 19 years. I have born 4 children ,three of which were born on Libyan soil. One child is buried here in Libya.I think I have more than earned the right to be granted these simple civil rights. Please NTC don't forget the silent ones like my friends and I .

The World Cup 2010

Yep ! It is that time again . The World Cup starts tomorrow Friday June 11, 2010 in South Africa .Moe has already informed me that the TV is all HIS starting tomorrow . I am not even to think about watching any shows of mine that are on the same time as any of the games . It is a good thing I like football/soccer !Here is the official World Cup FIFA  2010 web site with schedules , stats ,predictions , and interviews .
Yeah football ! Oh , and here is another treat ..... Shakira has a new video made just for the world cup and Africa called "Waka Waka " This Time For Africa ". See what you think about her new song and her new look below .

I'm glade he has this distraction , as long as it takes his mind off the place where his tooth once resided . He had it pulled yesterday and has turned into a invalid needing my ever attention . I ask him does he have pain and he says no , but the next breath he breathes is can you make me this , or can you get me that , as he lays on the couch moaning . LOL ! Come on World Cup !

Jokes From The Land Of The Flu

Things here are still basically the same in the Land Of The Flu . Moe and I are struggling to keep things up around the Condo . We had to call in reinforcements this week to help us out with the shopping , our son . That turned into a wonderful bonus because not only did he do the shopping for me , but then he cook a huge pot of chicken soup with all sorts if yummy veggies in it . I haven't had to cook for several days now and it sure was a big help.

Our son has always enjoyed cooking . He had his own cook book when he was just a little guy . He would always want to help out in the kitchen when I cooked ,as a little boy . The rule was , when you were tall enough to be able to look into the tallest pot sitting on the stove , then you could do some actual cooking over the fire ... with supervision of course .

Moe used to take the kids with him to work, to one of our restaurants in Houston, once in a while . They would come home with all sorts of adventures to share with me . They had learned how to peel garlic , or almost got locked up in the wine cellar, or the chief threatened to cut their ears off if they didn't stop nagging him for shrimp ,or in our youngest ones case , lime sherbet ! They were spoiled rotten by all the staff .

The best part was they learned to enjoy all sorts of new foods that most childern their ages never tasted . They LOVED escargot , frog leggs , and Beef Wellinton . They had to be on their best behavior and were taught wonderful table manners so we could take them into any resturante and not annoy the other patrons dinnig there also . They loved these experences and it has helped them later in other life situations .

Now to change the conversation ...... I got this in a email today and liked it . Thought you might like it too . Have a great day !

Eau De Flu

Moe and I still have the flu .We are doing all the things you are supposed to do.... resting, eating chicken soup , drinking plenty of fluids , taking pain relievers for the aches and pains . Last night I got the Vick's Vapor Rub to grease up my chest to help me breath better . After doing that I went into the living room where Moe was watching TV to keep him company . When I walked past him he looked up at me and smiles a huge smile . He says ever so sweetly to me , " Is that a new perfume you are wearing tonight ? I really like it . What's it called ? " Eau De Vick's !

Some Of This And That

The Eid was ok . The 1st day we stayed home . We decided to not go to the son's house for the Eid . I had cooked the Libyan soup and a meat dish that has all sorts of cuts of meat that is cooked in spices and eaten with bread for us . That was good .

The next day the whole family came by . Our son brought Haroun , our grandson . He has gone like a weed and can now sit in his little chair that he couldn't sit in before . He was a terror , into everything . I had put most things out of his reaching range already but of course there were a couple of things I missed , lol. Our daughter in the States called and I got to talk to Gail , our grand daughter . Rosebud wrote since her phone is outta order to wish us happy Eid too . She sent some really fabulous pictures of Sophia that we drooled over about a 1,000 times .Everyone was ooowwwing and awwwwing over them . She is so cute !

The nieces and nephews have all grown taller and more beautiful and handsome as well . The brothers and sisters have aged ( of course JUST THEM , not Moe or I ! ) and I was shocked to see all the grey in our sons hair . Where did that come from ?

Today we were gonna go visit the aunts since they are getting up there on age now , but Moe and I have been blessed by every person we have come in contact with over the last week that had the flu .They lovingly passed the flu on to us . We have stayed in bed most of today sleeping . I can remember when that would have been a fantastic thing , but not today . It was spent snuffling ,sneezing , moaning , and groaning . Much complaining on Moe's part and demanding I get this or that for him ... since HE IS DYING ! But I am dreaming of a nurse in a shinning nurse uniform to come and take care of me! Mad laughing going on here , can you hear me ? Ok , that's my 2 minutes of moaning and groaning . I gotta go , Moe is whining in the other room , something about food or maybe meds ?
