Don't Laugh At Me

Ok, promise you won't laugh at me ? It is 5 a.m. and I just heard a very strange clapping noise coming from behind my closet , maybe . We have the type of closets that are free standing and not built in, here in Libya .Behind mine runs the air conditioner cables from the outside unit to the inside unit that hangs on the wall in the hall.

Now you have the picture , here is what scared me .The clapping , it just isn't normal to hear clapping at 5 a.m. in the morning when everyone else is asleep and the neighborhood all quite .I recently had a conversation with my sometimes sane friend about the possession of people by Jinns and demons and it has freaked me out.So , when I heard that noise , I natural thought of that conversation , as one does .

Logic told me to go look behind the closet to see if there was anything going on back there.I psyched myself out to go look . All was good . Yeah ! Then it dawned on me it might be the outside unit that is making the noise . That meant I had to go look outside ... into the dark night .... where "things" live , scary monsters things.There could possibly be a vampire or two hanging out on the balcony  and if I go poking my head out there looking around in the dark .... well , I don't have to tell you all the gory details that went flying through my mind , do I ? The clapping still continues even as I write this. I stay seated in my chair , refusing to investagate  and become a victim to the "things " !

Hot , Hurrican Ike , And Too Much Ramadan !

Spoke to some of my family in Houston last night before Hurricane Ike hit .They had batten down the hatches so to speak . I have spoken to my daughter and son in law this morning and they are ok .Thank Allah !The National Hurricane Center said that Ike was roughly 600 miles across . That is the same distance from Houston, Texas all the way to Panama City , Florida , 6 states apart .

Many of the rivers, creeks, and bayous that lacy their way all through out the Houston area have flooded . Galveston Island and the low lands north of the island getting the worse of course .Still not a lot of news coming out of there yet since many of the telephone and electric lines are down as well as internet too . So maybe until later today or even tomorrow before I hear from the rest of the family there .

On the other hand , I have have had enough of HOT , STICKY , HUMID Tripoli today !!! The fan quit working last night . I have the air conditioner going full blast and it is still hot in the house .I take a shower and before I even dry off , I am sweating all over again ! I wish it would get cool and maybe have some rain .It's raining ever where else in the world , why not here ???

And .... Allah forgive me , I have had enough of Ramadan today ! It is one of those days when you feel like this has gone on way too long . I am not hungry or thirsty , just tired of the whole thing . Maybe it is worrying over my family that is making me feel all out of sorts , or maybe it is the full moon coming up . I don't know . I think I will go back to bed ...... until it is all over !

Dreary Weather

The weather widget on my blog says it is 21 C , but feels like 27 C at 2:00 a.m. It is predicted to get up to 32 c tomorrow . OMG ! I am NOT ready for it to get hot yet .I had to turn on the air conditioner tonight . Last week we were wearing coats at night .I have to go grocery shopping in this stuff tomorrow . It has been dusty ,miserable , low pressure , cloudy , awful weather for the last 2 day . All last week it was so lovely, clear aired.You could see all the way to Malta , well not really but you get my point . Now you can't see more than 1000 meters . Very Big SIGH !!!!!

The other night we went to a pre engagement party for one of Moe's nieces .It was in my sister in laws home . She is a gracious hostess . She aways goes out of her way to make you feel at home .Many members of the family were there to help celebrate the happy occasion . One cousin was there that is not the most loved person in the family but he was welcomed with open arms by his family .He walked up to me at one point and asked me had I ever thought about dieting ? DUH !!!!!I looked at him for a few minutes thinking and decided that diplomacy would be wasted on him so I instead asked him had he ever considered plastic surgery for his ugly face .He walked off with out a word . Men ... NEVER ASK A WOMAN THAT QUESTION NO MATTER WHAT !!!!! EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
